The window sees who walks by

A sensor node at the window counts how many people pass, which way they walk and how long they stop. It counts; it recognises no one. It is not yet connected at the four windows in Rottach-Egern.

Two ways to count

Radar

A radar sensor picks up movement in defined zones in front of the window. Each person is counted once, with walking direction and dwell time. Radar produces no image.

Camera sensor

A camera sensor counts people and vehicles per minute. Detection runs on the camera’s own chip; the counting program only receives numbers and stores no images.

Privacy belongs here, not in the small print

No face recognition, no identification, and the counting program stores no images. What reaches the platform is a summary per time window: how many, which way, how long.

There is one exception, during installation: the alignment aid. It is switched off by default. When it is switched on, it uploads a still image with the defined private areas blacked out, so that someone can check the sensor points the right way.

What the screen does on its own

Rotating content

Weather, severe-weather warnings, fuel prices, events and news are fetched continuously and alternate with the ads.

Time windows

A greeting page of its own early in the day, ads by time of day and weekday.

Log

Every play is recorded with time and screen.

Built at Lake Tegernsee
